'Non-traditional' occupations are focus of UI radio program airing
July 18-19
IOWA CITY, Iowa The director of a University of Iowa program that
helps women find jobs in traditionally male-dominated occupations will
be one of three guests on the "Women at Iowa" Radio Forum series
aired on radio station WSUI-AM910 at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 18 and at 3:30
p.m. Sunday, July 19 and on station KSUI-FM91.7 at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July
19.
Nancy Noyer, director of the UI Pre-Vocational Training Program, will
be joined by Sgt. Mary Jo Lessmeier, a detective with the UI department
of public safety, and Stephanie Miller-Lamb, stage manager for Hancher
Auditorium.
They will talk with host Deone Pedersen about their jobs and the concerns
and issues they face as women working in non-traditional fields. Pedersen
chairs the University Council on the Status of Women.
The UI Radio Forum's Women at Iowa program is designed to broaden the
awareness of issues and events significant to women at the UI and the
community as whole.
Several women's organizations helped create the program.
