Support group for Daughters Without Mothers begins meetings Feb.
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) at
the University of Iowa is offering a new support group for women who have
lost their mothers to death. The weekly meetings of Daughters Without
Mothers will begin Monday, Feb. 2 and will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
in Old Brick, 20 E. Market St., Iowa City.
Cynthia Kay, facilitator of Daughters Without Mothers, says that the
group will be "a space to explore the changes in women's lives by
understanding our connection to a woman who gave us this life." Kay,
who lost her mother a year ago, began the support group "because it
is important for women who have lost their mothers to death to know that
they are not alone and have a safe place to share and grow."
Parking is available in the lot just west of Old Brick. Interested
women are encouraged to drop in any time. For more information, call the
Women's Center at (319) 335-1486.
