Evening of skiing, skating, sledding slated Jan. 31 at Macbride
Nature Recreation Area
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Macbride Nature Recreation
Area is sponsoring an evening of cross-country skiing, ice skating and
tobogganing from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, weather permitting. The
event is free and open to the public.
Candlelight cross-country skiing will begin at the Macbride upper parking
area. A total of about one mile of trail will be marked with candles.
Ice skating will be offered on a small pond adjacent to the Sailing Club
Social Center. The pond will be flooded to insure smooth ice. Tobogganing
will also be offered on a hill in the same area. A limited supply of toboggans
and ice skates will be available for $1 at the Social Center. Skiers should
supply their own skis.
Macbride Nature Recreation Area is located on County Road F28 between
