take questions from reporters and will speak about their recent trip to
Taiwan and Korea, where they met with UI alumni and with education, government
and business leaders in each country. The primary purpose of the trip
was to promote student and faculty exchanges, to look for opportunities
to collaborate with academic, business and government leaders, to promote
and strengthen teaching and research on East Asia at the UI, and to explore
possibilities for fund-raising.
Other officials who will be available to take questions are Michael
McNulty, associate provost and dean of international programs; Jae-On
Kim, director of the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies; Stephen
Arum, assistant dean of international programs; and Michael New,
vice president for development at the UI Foundation.
A mult box will be provided for broadcasters and others who wish to
tape the briefing.
SPECIAL DIRECTIONS TO OLD CAPITOL SENATE CHAMBER: Because the floors
of the Old Capitol have recently been refinished, we ask that you enter
from either the north or south entrances, not the main entrance on the
east of the Old Capitol. From the ground floor you will be directed to
the elevator, which goes directly to the Senate Chamber.
