literary magazine "Earthwords" will read from the 1998 issue
before a short open microphone program.
A theater group from Columbia, Mo., will conclude the night with "Shades
of Woman," a retelling of the Biblical stories of Mary Magdalene and
Queen Esther. The Grace Kavvanah Sacred Theater Troupe presented this original
performance to a packed house in Columbia on March 19 at the opening event
for the University of Missouri's Women's History Month. The performance
combines singing, drumming, spoken word, and poetry.
