Women's Center offers discussion group: "Women Wanting Joy Without
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Resource and Action Center at the University
of Iowa is offering a discussion group for women who want to break their
dependency on another person. "Women Wanting Joy Without Another"
is an eight-week discussion group for women who want to explore the issues
of being single.
"Women Wanting Joy Without Another" will provide space for
women to share their personal experiences about being single, being attached
and all of the emotions that accompany those different circumstances.
This is the third time the support group is being offered, and it has
proved to be an important resource for women in the community, says Courtney
Reed Jenkins, group coordinator at the Women's Center. "The group
members not only support each other but also provide inspiration for other
women in the community," Jenkins said. "The current group is
working on a list of 100 Things to Do by Yourself in Iowa City."
The new group's first meeting will be Thursday, April 9 from 7 to 9
p.m. at the Women's Center, 130 N. Madison, Iowa City. For more information
or to register for the course, call the Women's Center at (319) 335-1486.
