Record number of employers scheduled at UI Careers Day Sept. 25

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Representatives from more than 160 companies and organizations, the largest number of employers to attend the event in its 21-year history, will be on campus to meet with students at the University of Iowa's annual Careers Day Thursday, Sept. 25.

Careers Day will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU). The event is free and open to the public.

Careers Day, sponsored by the Business and Liberal Arts Placement Center, Career Development Services, and Engineering Career Services, is designed to provide information and potential job contacts for students in all majors and at all levels of their educational careers.

"We always try to emphasize that it's never too early to begin thinking about career possibilities," says Deanna Hurst, director of the Business and Liberal Arts Placement Center. "Careers Day has something for every student, whether you are a freshman looking for internships or a senior looking for your first job."

An added feature this is year is intended to help students looking for internships identify companies with possible openings. Companies with internship opportunities will have balloons marked with an "I" at their booths.

Careers Day is the key event in the UI's annual "Careers Week." The week's events are also sponsored by the Study Abroad program and International Programs.
