University of Iowa honors 25 outstanding teaching assistants
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Twenty-five University of Iowa teaching assistants
have been named winners of the 1997 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards.
The awards have been given each year since 1988 by the Council on Teaching.
Winners receive a certificate and $1,000.
The awardees are teaching assistants who taught for at least one semester
during the spring, summer, and fall of 1996 and the spring of 1997. Nominations
for the award are sought from students, faculty, colleagues, departmental
executive officers, and deans.
This year's award winners are:
College of Business Administration: Hong Xie, accounting.
College of Education: Jill M. Sullivan, music education.
College of Engineering: Robert Christopher Kobus, instructional
design and technology; April Anne Privett, civil and environmental engineering.
College of Liberal Arts: Anne Besco, French and Italian; Michael
Tavel Clarke, English; Sylvia Cook, mathematics; Julie L. Dunkelberger,
Spanish and Portuguese; Razvan Gelca, mathematics; Kimberly Johnson, English/Writers'
