Video conference broadcast live from Hong Kong at UI
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A live video conference from Hong Kong to address
the legal and business ramifications of their reversion to the People's
Republic of China will be broadcast Tuesday, March 11 in Room S401 of the
University of Iowa Pappajohn Business Administration Building from 6:30
to 8 p.m.
"Live from Hong Kong: The Fate and Future of Hong Kong in the Face
of Repatriation" will feature Zhao Zhang, a partner in the international
law office of Dorsey & Whitney LLP. He will speak over the UI's video
conferencing facilities to an open forum. Dorsey & Whitney's Steve
Dickinson will co-present at the UI's site.
Issues addressed may include what the future holds for international
property rights in Hong Kong, how the management of joint ventures might
change between U.S. and Hong Kong companies, and changes regarding immigration
and emigration in Hong Kong.
Zhang has been a partner in the Corporate/International Department of
Dorsey & Whitney LLP in Hong Kong since 1994. He holds a bachelor's
degree from the Institute of International Relations in Beijing and his
legal degrees are from the China University of Politics and Law in Beijing
and the University of Minnesota. He has advised U.S. computer software
and technology companies in resolving major commercial and labor disputes
in the People's Republic of China.
The conference is free and open to the public.
The event is sponsored by the International Business Student Association,
Dorsey & Whitney LLP, the Economics Forum, the College of Business
Administration, the UI Student Government and the department of economics.
