WRAC starts support group for single mothers
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- "Single Mothers: Mothers Without Partners"
is the name of a new support group being started by the Women's Resource
and Action Center at the University of Iowa. The group is designed to
end the isolation many single mothers feel.
"This is a way for women to share their joys and challenges with
others who understand and care," said Maria Oropeza, WRAC volunteer
coordinator. "Members of the group will serve as a resource and support
for one another. We welcome women from diverse experiences and backgrounds."
The first meeting of the group will be Monday, June 23, from 6:30 to
7:30 p.m. at the Women's Resource and Action Center, located at 130 North
Madison St., just east of the Iowa Memorial Union on the campus of the
University of Iowa. For more information, call (319) 335-1486.
