WRAC plans another seminar in series on "Organizing for Social
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Resource and Action Center at the University
of Iowa is offering "Inclusive and Effective Organizing Principles,"
the latest in a series of seminars on organizing for social change, on
Thursday, July 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Iowa City Council Chambers,
410 E. Washington Street. Free parking is available at the Chauncey Swan
Seminar leaders are Monique DiCarlo, director of the WRAC, and Iowa
City City Council member Karen Kubby. Goals of the program are to inspire
the use of organizing principles that encourage empowerment and inclusivity;
to teach and provide an opportunity to practice a consensus decision-making
model; and to practice how to communicate more effectively in a group.
Anyone interested in creating progressive social change is invited to
participate -- no experience necessary. There is a $10 fee for the seminar;
limited scholarships are available. For more information or to register,
