Hancher box office at UI closes for two weeks during August

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Hancher Auditorium box office at the University of Iowa will be closed Aug. 2-17, during the break between the UI summer and fall academic sessions. The box office will resume its regular, academic-year business hours Monday, Aug. 18.

Beginning Aug. 18 the Hancher box office hours will be 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and 1-3 p.m. Sunday. From the local calling area or outside Iowa, dial (319) 335-1160. Long distance within Iowa and western Illinois is toll-free, 1-800-HANCHER. Fax to (319) 353-2284. Orders may be charged to VISA, MasterCard or American Express. UI students may charge their purchases to their university bills, and UI faculty and staff may select the option of payroll deduction.

People with special needs for access, seating and auxiliary services should dial (319) 335-1158. This number will be answered by box office personnel prepared to offer assistance with handicapped parking, wheelchair access and seating, hearing augmentation and other services. The line is equipped with TDD for people with hearing impairment who use that technology.

Tickets are now on sale for all Hancher-sponsored performances during the 1997-98 season. Hancher box office also is the source for advance tickets to events including productions of University Theatre and the UI Opera Theater, the UI Dance Company's Dance Gala and performances of the Old Gold Singers.

During the time that the box office is closed, Hancher will accept mail orders for 1997-98 events. A free 1997-98 Hancher brochure will be available through the Hancher administrative offices, 319-335-1130.

While the box office is closed, University Theatres 1997-98 season brochures may be requested by contacting the department of theatre arts, 319-335-2700.
