Felton named executive director of National League for Nursing Accrediting
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Geraldene Felton, outgoing dean of the University of Iowa
College of Nursing, has been named executive director of the National League
for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
The NLNAC is an independent entity associated with the National League for
Nursing. The NLNAC is responsible for the League's accrediting activities
with 1,665 U.S. schools of nursing.
The appointment is the latest in a long line of honors for Felton. She has
served as chair of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Nursing Research
Study Section and as president of the American Association of Colleges of
Nursing. She is currently a member of the Special Medical Advisory Group of
the Department of Veterans Affairs and the NIH National Advisory Council,
National Institute of Nursing Research.
Felton has served as dean of the College of Nursing since March 1981. Recently
named Kelting Family Professor of Nursing, Felton will remain a member of
the College of Nursing faculty.
