Series discounts are still available for Hancher Silver Anniversary events

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- With the opening of the 1997-98 academic year at the University of Iowa, subscription discounts of 20 percent are still available for the Silver Anniversary performing arts events offered by Hancher Auditorium. Each Hancher series package is available until the first event in the series.

The opening dates of the series are:

Ticket buyers may also take advantage of volume discounts by creating their own custom series of three or more events. A custom package of 3-5 events qualifies for a 10-percent discount, and a package of six or more events qualifies for a 15-percent discount.

UI students and senior citizens qualify for substantial additional discounts on series and individual-event tickets, and tickets for young people 17 and younger are half price.

Purchases can be made directly from the box office by phone or in person, or through season brochures that are available free from the box office.

Hancher box office hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and 1-3 p.m. Sunday. From the local calling area or outside Iowa, dial (319) 335-1160. Orders may be charged to VISA, MasterCard or American Express. UI students may charge their purchases to their university bills, and UI faculty and staff may select the option of payroll deduction.

People with special needs for access, seating and auxiliary services should dial (319) 335-1158. This number will be answered by box office personnel prepared to offer assistance with handicapped parking, wheelchair access and seating, hearing augmentation and other services. The line is equipped with TDD for people with hearing impairment who use that technology.

Every series and special event in the 1997-98 series enjoys individual or corporate sponsorship, through the University of Iowa Foundation.
