Visitor's Day scheduled for graduate program in urban, regional planning
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa graduate program in urban and regional
planning will sponsor a Visitor's Day program beginning at noon Thursday,
April 10 on the third floor of Jessup Hall.
Urban and regional planners work to improve the quality of life in cities
and regions by finding solutions for such problems as affordable housing shortages,
groundwater contamination, downtown decline and transportation congestion.
The Visitor's Day program will focus on what planners do, what the UI master's
degree program offers and what opportunities are available in the field. For
a complete schedule of events and list of meeting sites, call (319)335-0032
The UI's two-year master's degree program is suited to students from a wide
variety of undergraduate backgrounds. The program emphasizes the development
of analytic and professional skills to prepare students for a career in the
field, and areas of concentration include economic development, housing and
community development, environmental planning and transportation planning.
An undergraduate degree in any major is a pre-requisite.
